Iberia to add three North American destinations for Summer 2022

09/11/2021 by Kevincm

Spanish carrier Iberia will be expanding its North American network for Summer 2022, with three destinations announced. Let us dive in and see what is being offered.

The airline will offer the following from April 2022.

  • Washington DC (Dulles)
  • San Francisco International
  • Dallas-Fort Worth

Dallas-Fort Worth will be operated four times a week, allowing visiting the city, as well as connecting to the American Airlines fortress hub to destinations far and wide.

Washington DC (Dulles), will also operate four times a week after the previous launch being interrupted by the pandemic – which forced a retreat for all airlines.

Finally, San Francisco will return for the summer, with the airline operating three flights a week.

These destinations will be available for booking shortly.

This brings Iberia up to nine ports of entry into the USA. The airline will also serve:

  • 10 x weekly flights to New York
  • 10x weekly flights to Miami
  • 5 x weekly flights to Chicago O’Hare
  • 3 x weekly flights to Boston
  • 3 x weekly flights to Los Angeles
  • 4 x weekly a week to San Juan in Puerto Rico, a destination included in the North Atlantic JBA with American Airlines, British Airways and Finnair.

Making a play with the North Atlantic Joint Business Agreement

It seems Iberia is making a lot of the noise and moves, which are being made under the Join Business Agreement across the Atlantic – which pools American Airlines, British Airways, Finnair and Iberia together – both in terms of timetabling and of course – revenue.

The JBA allows connections for linking more than 400 cities in 100 countries of Europe and North America.

For Iberia, working under the JBA will be critical – least of all they offer a rather unique route under it – along with other connectivity between Madrid and the USA.

For passengers, it will offer some more choice – as well as the ability to earn points and miles on these routes.
