ITA Airways (the Phoenix that has arisen from the ashes of Alitalia has unveiled its new paintwork on a live aircraft.
And it’s blue. Very Blue.

It’s the second aircraft to leave the Alitalia paint scheme as ITA Airways finds its own footing in the world. The first was the “Born in 2021”
The aircraft (EI-GTE) was repainted between the 10th and 23rd December, where it rolled out from Ostrava. The aircraft has since re-entered service, operating services out of the airlines’ hub of Rome Fiumicino and shuttling to and from Milan Linate airport.
Well it certainly isn’t Eurowhite
It’s bold I give it that. It makes a difference to every other airline that gets the low-heat absorbancy eurowhite paint jobs. You certainly won’t miss that when hunting for your plane.
And it seems to be the paintwork the airline is choosing for the future, as the airline has lined up its future orders of Airbus A220, A320neo and A330neo with the paintwork showing on it.
All ITA AIrways Blue aircraft – coming soon. Rendering – Airbus.
Is it a bit too blue? Maybe… but I don’t actively dislike it. It’s something very different that will be flying the flag for Italy. There are some nice little details in it too.
And it’s Blue dah dah dee dah dah…
To quote those maestros of music Eiffel 65…

I guess it’s an improvement over Eurowhite, but that shade of blue makes my retinas hurt, just like Southwest’s does.
The little “Italy” touches on the tail and the engines look like a hastily applied afterthought. “Oh, wait, we’re Italian! We need to put the flag’s colours on the plane and start planning our first strike…”
