As Virgin Atlantic continues to see a recovery in bookings, the airline is planning to reinstate the final two destinations in its USA network, whilst adding further capacity.
The airline will relaunch flights to Seattle and Washington DC will take off next week, with services to New York, San Francisco and Atlanta also increasing.
London Heathrow to Seattle flights will depart five times weekly from London Heathrow on the 2nd of March, with a Boeing 787-9.
London Heathrow to Washington DC services commence on the 5th of March and will operate five times a week utilising an Airbus A330-300.
In April, a third daily service to Los Angeles will commence. Meanwhile, Orlando will be served from all four of Virgin Atlantic’s UK gateways of Heathrow, Manchester, Edinburgh and Belfast for the summer season.
Finally, the much talked about Austin route will commence on the 25th of May.

Juha Jarvinen, Chief Commercial Officer at Virgin Atlantic, commented,
“Following the relaxation of travel restrictions, we’ve seen demand increase to many of our global destinations, but particularly to our heartland in the USA. Our customers can’t wait to return.
“The restart of our Seattle and Washington DC services mark an important milestone, as we move into recovery and welcome our customers back on board to all the destinations they’ve missed. We’re simply not Virgin without the Atlantic and our growing transatlantic portfolio demonstrates why we’re the airline of choice to the USA.”
Living up to the Atlantic part of its name
Virgin Atlantic is certainly living up to the Atlantic part of its name, as it rebuilds after a torrid two years, as it fills in the last parts of its US Network, whilst eyeing expansion with its next destination – Austin.
With the rest of the world still providing challenges on some routes, the USA will be vital for the airline’s Summer 2022 programme to maintain income over the next few months.
