It’s Sunday again, so it must be time for some more Airplane Art.
This week, we have a Lufthansa Boeing 747-8i climbing out of Chicago O’Hare as it begins the long trip back to Frankfurt Airport.
Lufthansa operates a fleet of 19 Boeing 747-8i (the passenger variant of the Boeing 747-8 family). The airline also retained eight Boeing 747-400 aircraft in its long haul fleet. The 747 fleet is a small part of the Lufthansa fleet, with it also containing Airbus A330-300, Airbus A340-300, Airbus A340-600 and Airbus A350-900. The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner will also be joining the fleet soon.
This aircraft – D-ABYA is called “Brandenburg”. It joined the Lufthansa fleet in April 2012 – making it just under 10 years old with the airline. The aircraft has continued to be active, flying out of its Frankfurt base to destinations such as Johannesburg, Beijing, Sao Paulo and Los Angeles.
More Airplane Art next week!
