With the South Terminal reopening at Gatwick Airport, life is returning to somewhat normal, as the airport confirms at least 30 long-haul destinations for the season.
Destinations that the airport will host include:
- Bangkok
- Singapore
- Islamabad
- Quebec
- Montreal
- New York-JFK
- Doha
Scoot will be launching its long-awaited service out of Gatwick, with the airline planning to operate three times a week to Bangkok and Singapore. Meanwhile, Norse Atlantic Airways will be waiting for the wings to launch.
Air Transat will begin flying from Gatwick to Canadian cities Montreal and Quebec on 2 May and 11 May respectively.
Even British Airways will resume some of its long-haul operations, with a route to Islamabad planned, and a daily New York Service. Part-owner Qatar Airways will also add Gatwick back to the mix.
WestJet and TUI will offer connectivity too, opening destinations far and wide.

Stephanie Wear, VP of Aviation Development, Gatwick Airport said:
“Adding the likes of Bangkok, Quebec, Montreal and Islamabad to the fantastic selection of long-haul routes from Gatwick is great news for our passengers, including tourists and businesses across the south-east.
“The additions of Scoot and Norse Atlantic to the Gatwick family highlights the importance of Gatwick to airlines and we are equally delighted to welcome Qatar Airways back to the airport this summer too. As we look to grow back following the impacts of the pandemic, we hope to be able to add more long-haul routes to our range of destinations and continue to reconnect people and places across the world.”
Although get there a little early…
With the South Terminal re-opening on the 27th of March, Gatwick is advising passengers to arrive early as the terminals may be busy and is also asking that all passengers – regardless of airline – check the terminal they are flying from with their airline before they come to the airport
Another step to normality
With the South Terminal opening, it’s going to mark a major milestone with the airport returning to some sense of normality, as airlines go back to old haunts.
Whilst the destination mix may be smaller than that it was pre-COVID, 30 destinations for the summer represents a good start for a summer network, with a reasonably large catchment area.
Hopefully, it will drive traffic for the season and beyond.
