It seems that the arguments over wearing face coverings will slowly be quietening down, as easyJet joins other airlines on the removal of a face-coving mandate.

According to the airline from 27 March 2022, on flights where masks are no longer legally required at both ends of the route, the airline will not mandate customers and crew to wear masks on board the flight. Any customers or crew who wish to continue wearing a mask will of course have their personal choice respected.
This applies to the following destinations:
- UK domestic flights including Jersey, Isle of Man, (excluding flights to and from Scotland)
- UK to Denmark
- UK to Gibraltar
- UK to Iceland
- UK to Hungary
On these flights, masks will not be required for crew or customers.
The airlines aim to progressively remove the requirement on other international routes as and when both ends of the route have no legal requirement.
A long way to go
easyJet serves over 30 countries – and as you can guess, each country has their own rules. As such, the airline must ensure that everyone follows the legal requirements of all the countries they fly to.
This means when flying to or from countries where mask requirements remain in place, easyJet will follow the relevant legal requirements.
Of course, easyJet would prefer a coordinated approach on the removal of the requirement by European governments where possible. For now, it’s a piece by piece bit of work.
For now, if you’re planning to fly easyJet, take a face covering with you, in case your route you’re flying on demands that a face covering is worn for the entire flight.
