It’s Sunday again, so it must be time for some more Airplane Art.
This week, we have a Lufthansa Boeing 747-8i preparing to land at its home base of Frankfurt Airport after a long trip.
Lufthansa operates a fleet of 19 Boeing 747-8i aircraft in its long haul fleet, with 18 deployed in service and one aircraft currently parked. These support the Lufthansa long-haul fleet, made up of Airbus A330-300, Airbus A340-300, Airbus A340-600, Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 747-400.
The Boeing 747-8i fleet is based out of the airline’s hub at Frankfurt Airport, connecting to destinations around the world.
The aircraft featured – D-ABYN – is named “Niedersachsen”. It joined the Lufthansa fleet in March 2014 and has remained operational through the past couple of years (when this photo was shot, it was September 2020). It has been busy recently, with the aircraft visiting Houston, New York JFK, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver and Dehli from its Frankfurt base.
More Airplane Art next week!
