Finnair is planning its winter 2022 programme, by it announcing 77 destinations for the upcoming season.
The airline is planning to fly from its Helsinki and Stockholm hubs for the winter, with its destinations split down by:
- Five US destinations
- Ten Asian destinations
- 62 European and domestic destinations
USA
Finnair’s US offering comprises daily flights to New York John F Kennedy airport from Helsinki, three weekly flights to Los Angeles and Miami, and four weekly flights to Dallas Fort Worth, and Chicago O’Hare.
The airline will also operate flights from Stockholm Arlanda, with three weekly direct flights to New York JFK, Los Angeles, and Miami.
The airline plans to offer both the new business class and premium economy class on flights to all departures to and from New York for both Helsinki and Arlanda.
Asia
With Russian airspace closed at this time, Finnair will be adjusting its operation for the winter, with it planning to serve Delhi, Singapore, Seoul, and Tokyo Narita with daily flights.
Mumbai will be served four days a week, Hong Kong 7 times a week, and Shanghai once a week.
Thailand will enjoy high-frequency services over the winter with up to 14 weekly frequencies to Bangkok, three weekly frequencies to Phuket and two weekly frequencies to Krabi. Finnair flies to Bangkok and Phuket also from Stockholm Arlanda with two weekly frequencies to each destination.
Due to the closure of Russian airspace, Finnair is continuing its suspension of flights to Tokyo Haneda, Nagoya, Osaka and Sapporo for the winter season.
Europe and Domestic
Finnair is planning to serve 60 destinations, with major capitals being served by at least a double-daily service. Most routes will be timed to connect across its US and Asian networks for those who intend to travel onwards.
For those who want to explore Finland, Ivalo, Kittilä and Rovaniemi in Finnish Lapland will also have services.

A busy winter ahead
Whilst we may be basking in the warmth of Spring, Autumn and Winter are not far away in airline terms. With timetable planning being a much finer art than it has ever been (and honed over the past two years), planning out an operation for the winter when loads are traditionally lighter is always a challenge.
This isn’t helped thanks to geopolitical situations, which have nixed some of the airline’s destinations for the winter – but in another way, it builds the network sustainably, rather than overpromising and underdelivering.
