United Airlines is adding two new Impossible Foods menu items on select flights and in certain airport lounges as the airline attempts to offer more plant-based food offerings as part of its service.
First up, is an exclusive to the airline – The Impossible Meatball bowl.
This utilises Impossible foods products for the bowl. It will feature three Impossible Meatballs Made From Plants and broccolini served on a bed of couscous and topped with a herb-infused tomato sauce.
Meanwhile during breakfast at Chicago O’Hare, Los Angeles, Newark and San Francisco Polaris lounges, United will offer ground Impossible Sausage as an optional omelette ingredient and Impossible Sausage breakfast patties in the buffet.
The collaboration comes as more than half of U.S. consumers are increasing their plant-based food consumption and sales of plant-based meat continue to climb.

Offering choices to those with different diets
Whilst culinary excellence in the sky is something that can be a far-off dream (especially when flying the on shorter segments), offering choice is important as we navigate through the changes in the world.
And those who have chosen a different diet -it is good to see that United Airlines is offering that choice to its customers.

um…I just had the meatballs on my flight back from PUJ Fri and had no idea they were Impossibles until I read this. I remember thinking they were happily un-bready, not mushy and not dry. Never asked the FA about meat content as I eat everything. I did wonder for a hot second why there was no veg option bf my 4-yr old started throwing crayons at the bulkhead. 7.5/10 on NYC restaurant food scale.
