Time for another snapshot, this time focusing on the Ibis hotel, in St Pauli, Hamburg.
In case you’ve forgotten how we do travel write-ups on Economy Class and Beyond, I have two major travel writing styles:
- Trip Reports – These are deep-dive reports taking you into the experience and the small things… as well as the big things!
- Snapshots – These are bite-sized reviews that show you the basic product in some nice gentle headlines (and normally, only images shot on the phone).
Today, we’re on the Snapshot. The full in-depth review is a work in progress (and I mean that in the nicest sense – you haven’t seen the pipeline I’m working through…).
Location
The hotel is located near St Pauli U Bahn station on the U3 line.
It’s also near the Dom fair when it’s around and a stone’s throw from the Reeperbahn for those who need… umm… entertainment.
The hotel is co-located next to an Ibis Budget (which has featured more times than not in this blog).
Check-in
The Check-in process was on the ground floor of the complex, where payment was taken for the room. The room was on a pre-booked rate, however, Accor hotels had not taken a payment for it at the time of booking.
The Room
The room is a 17m²/182sq ft, with a toilet unit built-in. Power plugs were spread throughout the room to allow electronics to be charged.
There is a desk at the window, with the window being able to open.
The toilet and shower unit is an inbuilt thing, with everything assembled almost one-piece. There was reasonable water pressure in the shower.
There was a TV in the room – however, this was not used.
Wi-Fi
High-Speed internet connectivity was presented at the hotel – with it offering 100Mb download speed. This compares to the sister property which offered 3Mb two years ago.
Breakfast
Breakfast was offered at €10 per person. Due to the time I was there – I was out too early or getting up too late. This option was not taken up. From what could be witnessed, this was the usual continental-type breakfast
Checkout
Checkout was a matter of dropping off the keycard and notifying reception.
