Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond (25th June)

25/06/2022 by Kevincm

We’re almost to the halfway point of the year. Must be time for Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond

a city with lights and a river
There’s plenty more of this photoset of London coming up.

Snapshots

We’ve got some passenger experience snapshots – although one of them has gone walkies around the site. I’ll find it a little later…

  • British Airways London 956 Heathrow to Hamburg (Club Europe)
  •  Ibis Hotel, St Pauli Hamburg

Passenger Experience

  • United Airlines to offer plant-based food offerings in flight and in the lounge – More Impossible foods on the way
  • IHG to partner with Unilever to remove hotel miniatures from various hotel brands – More bulk bottles, fewer miniatures.
  • Anunvu to deliver In-Flight Entertainment for Norse Atlantic Airways – Entertainment for the seatbacks

Routes and Networks

  • Oman Air to join the oneworld alliance – Third Middle Eastern Airline to join oneworld.
  • JetBlue expands UK operations, doubles flights out of Gatwick – Permanent slots at Heathrow and doubling operations at Gatwick.
  • Delta to restore its US – Korea network out of Minneapolis – According to comments, this could be good to burn Skypass miles on. Good luck getting availability.

Sustainability in the air

  • ATR Aircraft flies its first flight with 100% Sustainable Air Fuel in both engines – A major step forward. Let us hope the results will be positive.

Three Days of Rail Strikes

And with no positive outcomes from talks so far, don’t expect these to be the last…

  • UK National Rail Strike – Let the chaos roll
  • Hitting the buffers: Day 2 of the UK National Rail Strike inbound
  • The train to nowhere – UK National Rail Strike Day 3

Pretty pictures

  • SWISS Airbus A321ceo pushing back at Hamburg Airport

Next Week

The last of the snapshots will be heading out on Sunday, as well as a few other bits from this trip (The trip report is in progress). We’ll also be kicking off our post Aircraft Interiors Expo content (I’ve had a week to start getting the pipeline pumped.

I suspect I’ll be in coffee shops most evenings finishing up stuff however.

On top of that, we’ll have our usual mixture of route news, passenger experience updates and whatever else passes under my radar.

Until then, Happy Landings!
