Qatar Airways is trying to improve the passenger experience at its home base with three new lounges at its hub at Hamad International Airport.
Three new lounges are opening – with runway views (a change over some of the previous lounges), and will be open to Qatar Airways Platinum, Gold and Silver loyalty members and oneworld Emerald and Sapphire card holders.
Let us go through the lounges.
Qatar Airways Platinum Lounge South
Located on concourse A of HIA, Qatar Airways Platinum Lounge South will be home to Qatar Airways Platinum loyalty members and oneworld Emerald card holders. The lounge accommodates up to 140 passengers and has a quiet area, a prayer room, a bar, a restaurant, and showers.
Passengers can enjoy à la carte dining or buffet and complimentary WiFi.
Qatar Airways Gold Lounge South
Located on concourse A of HIA, Qatar Airways Gold Lounge South will be home to Qatar Airways Gold loyalty members and oneworld Sapphire card holders. The newly inaugurated lounge can accommodate up to 85 passengers and offers an array of services including family seating, a bar, a dining area, a buffet dining experience, showers, and complimentary WiFi.
Qatar Airways Silver Lounge South
Located on concourse B of HIA, Qatar Airways Silver Lounge South will be home to Qatar Airways Silver loyalty members. First opened in March 2022, the lounge accommodates up to 195 passengers, offering meeting rooms, a family area, a quiet area, buffet dining and baggage storage facilities.

We look forward to welcoming passengers to experience our sophisticated, modern and spacious lounges when transiting through the World’s Best Airport.”
There’s a lot of choice at Hamad International Airport
To say there’s lounge choice at Hamad International Airport (Doha) would be an understatement for Qatar Airways travellers.
In a quick look:
- Al Safwa First Lounge – For the Qatar Airways First Class passengers, Privilege Club Platinum members travelling Business Class with Qatar Airways can now access Al Safwa First Class Lounge with up to two guest passes. You can also pay to utilise the lounge.
- Al Mourjan Business Lounge – For Qatar Airways First Class and Business Class (Elite, Comfort & Classic) and oneworld First Class and Business Class passengers. Business Class (Lite) and Economy Class passengers have to pay
- The Oryx Lounge – The lounge for everyone else. Pay to use if you don’t aren’t travelling with status.
- The Mariner Lounge – This lounge is for Seafarers and offshore workers who travel on Qatar Airways flights and show valid documentation.
The new lounges are very much “satellite” lounges, away from the Al Safwa/Al Mourjan lounge and nearer to the A and B Gates (which the CDE gates passengers are left to hike across the airport), to be used as a staging area before heading to the boarding lounge (or if you haven’t got time to head to the big lounges and want to rest before their flight).
As usual, ensure you have the correct ticket or status to enter the lounge. There’s nothing more fun than going around Hamad International Airport, trying to find the correct lounge to use…
