Air France is planning to return to New Jersey, with a planned route re-lanch to Newark Liberty International Airport.
The new route will be starting just in time for the Christmas holidays, on the 12th of December, with a daily operation. Newark of course is around 18 miles away from Manhattan.
The planned operation is as follows:
AF062 DEART CDG 12:300 ARRIVE EWR 15:00 AF063 DEPRT EWR 17:05, ARRIVE CDG 06:05+1 Commences: 12th December 2022 Operates Daily Booked Equipment: Air France Boeing 777-200ER (three class)
Flights will be operated by Boeing 777-200 with a capacity of 280 seats (40 in Business, 24 in Premium Economy and 216 in Economy), and equipped with a Wi-Fi connection.
This daily flight marks the return of Air France to Newark, a historic destination served by the airline with non-stop flights until 2012. It will come in addition to the “shuttle” service introduced between Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport and New York-John F. Kennedy airport with 6 daily flights operated by Air France and 2 by its Skyteam alliance partner Delta Air Lines.
Newark Liberty will be Air France’s 18th destination in North America this winter, along with Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York- JFK, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington D.C in the United States, Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver in Canada, and Cancun and Mexico City in Mexico.
Transalantic Growth returning
With Air France returning to Newark, it is a sign that Transatlantic network growth is still important to European carriers and that growing and strengthening networks is back on the agenda.
The times are such that the flight will feed in nicely to the Air France short-haul network, whilst getting people to the lands of skyscrapers in time for dinner, as well as providing some connectivity to the Delta network that is based there.
But it offers something that was missing on the Air France menu when it came to travelling to New York – choice.
And passengers love choice.
