The A330neo will replace previous generation aircraft in the company’s fleet (an Airbus A330-200), with the airline selecting a similar range-optimised aircraft, over a payload-optimised version (eg the Airbus A330-900neo), allowing the aircraft fly missions up to 8,150nm/15,094km.
Air Greenland will join Kuwait Air and Uganda Air as operators of the A330-800neo.
In terms of passenger configuration, Air Greenland’s A330neo will accommodate 305 passengers, featuring 42 Premium class seats and 263 Economy class seats.
Pictures of the seating were revealed earlier by FlightRadar24, which shows a seven-across premium cabin and the usual 8 across in economy.

The cabin is based on the “Airspace by Airbus” concept, which offers personal space, larger overhead bins, a new lighting system, and the ability to offer the latest in-flight entertainment systems and full connectivity.
Deployment
Air Greenland will first deploy the A330neo between the arctic island and Denmark, adding North American and European routes at a later date.
An upgrade, rather than an expansion
Air Greenland has kept a very focused fleet to allow it to serve its destinations within Greenland (either by a fixed-wing aircraft or a helicopter) and utilising its long-haul aircraft to connect the country to Denmark, Europe and beyond.
With the A330-800neo, it seems the airline wants to use the extra range to branch out its operation – be it through a scheduled or charter route.
It’ll be interesting to see how Air Greenland chooses to deploy its new aircraft, as it connect people to Greenland.
