Etihad is preparing to go double-daily between Abu Dhabi – New York as it continues to strengthen its network.
The new timetables go into effect from 24 April 2023, where the airline will fly twice a day, seven days a week between Abu Dhabi and New York JFK.
The planned operation is as follows:
Flight schedule for Abu Dhabi – New York service, effective 24 April 2023:

In addition, Etihad offers US Border Pre-Clearance for those seeking an “easier” arrival in New York, with passengers able to clear immigration formalities in Abu Dhabi Airport. Currently, the airline operates out of JFK T4 for arrivals and departures.
The airline has been busy with it relaunching flights to Kolkata, as well as offering travellers improved access to the Indian Subcontinent.
Onward connectivity from New York-JFK will be provided by JetBlue, allowing for connections to 47 destinations.

Martin Drew, Senior Vice President of Global Sales & Cargo at Etihad Airways, said:
“Etihad is responding to customer demand for increased frequency to New York and our well-known reputation for high-quality customer experience. Boosting our flights to New York gives our guests even greater options across key business and leisure destinations in our expanding global network.
“Our guests travelling to the US can use our US pre-clearance facility, the only United States Customs and Border Protection facility in the Middle East. This allows passengers bound for the United States to process all immigration, customs and agriculture inspections in Abu Dhabi before they board, avoiding immigration queues on arrival in the US.”
Adding frequencies for growth
Etihad is slowly growing its US presence, with the airline operating to New York-JFK, as well operating Chicago O’Hare and Washington Dulles, focusing on a set of destinations, rather than going for every major US city.
And it seems that the airline is being a lot more measured, rather than spamming cities with flights. At its peak, it also served Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston Intercontinental, Los Angles and San Francisco. Those cities have been paired back, as the airline adjusts to its current realities.
That’s no bad thing in some respects – by maintaining a focused network, it can build out frequencies, whilst keeping a close eye on demand.
Considering the airline can look at its data and consider its onward traffic, it will be interesting to see where next Etihad returns to in the USA.
