It’s that time of the week when I try to summarise the stuff that I wrote into a few lines, add a little commentary, and sarcasm and bake for 30 minutes at 200c.
Yes, it’s time for Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond.
Queen Elizabeth II Law Courts, Birmingham.
We’re running this a bit later than normal – as there have been bigger news articles that needed to head to the email newsletter. This post will be back at its usual time on Saturday evenings from next week.
Bye Bye flyBe 2.0
- FlyBe Collapses – Goes into Administration – Flights Cancelled – And that’s it for flyBe 2.0 after nine months
- flyBe collapse fallout – Rescue Options Launched, UK CAA Advice – For those stuck, there are a few options to get you to your next destination. But with a disparate route network, don’t expect rescue flights at this time
Routes and Networks
- Delta Air Lines to add Auckland route as well as European Capacity – The widget heads off to Auckland as well as adding missing European capacity.
- Norse Atlantic Airways to start Rome to New York service in June – Some odd timings on this route, to put it bluntly
- Copa Airlines to add a service to Baltimore-Washington – More capacity to the Washington area
Passenger Experience
- Recaro Aircraft Seating’s CL6720 Business Class seat takes flight with Air China – making Reaco go “nose to tail” on this A350
- SWISS moves its Premium Economy installs forward with Airbus A340 installations – Four aircraft in this refit
- Manchester Airport Terminal 2 future expansion works announced – but bad news for fans of Terminal 1.
New Aircraft News
- Air France-KLM Group goes shopping, comes out with Airbus A350 aircraft – A350s for Martinnair and Air France.
Sustainability in the Air
- Ryanair starts to retrofit their Boeing 737-800 with new Split-Wing winglets – because everyone loves a split-wing scimitar winglet.
- Alaska Airlines removes plastic cups from its services – and you wouldn’t believe some of the comment traffic that got.
Pretty Pictures
Next Week
Things are returning much more to normal. We’ll try to get an analysis piece out next week in regards to flyBe, as well as more of the usual shenanigans that we cover on this blog.
Until then, remember to have travel insurance, plan ahead and as always, enjoy happy landings.
