Japan Airlines is sticking with Boeing for narrow-body aircraft, with the airline choosing the Boeing 737 MAX.
The airline has selected the Boeing 737-8 variant of the MAX, with the airline agreeing to order 21 aircraft.
The 737-8 will position JAL to strengthen its domestic and regional network as passenger traffic continues to return to pre-pandemic levels. JAL intends to begin introducing the airplanes into its fleet commencing 2026.
JAL currently operates 43 Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
The 737 MAX will provide JAL with greater range and fuel efficiency, reducing both fuel use and carbon emissions by 15% compared to the aircraft the airline is replacing, along with being quieter than existing
