After an absence of nearly three years, Qatar Airways will return to the Midlands of the United Kingdom, serving Birmingham Airport.

I could go into the fluff that came with this release, as Qatar Airways highlights the Jewellery Quarter, the Bullring Shopping Centre (although you should try the smaller high streets, such as Mosley Village) and the National Exhibition Centre.
For those F1 fans, it’s an hour away from Silverstone, with the airline selling holiday packages.

A welcome return – with increased competition.

Connectivity to the Middle East from Birmingham is an intriguing thing. Emirates is preparing to scale back up to Airbus A380 operations after a break (with the airline using Boeing 777s currently on the route).
As well as that Air India has connectivity here, along with Turkish Airlines – and soon Saudia will join the party.
It’s welcoming to see Qatar Airways restore some of its regional links to the United Kingdom – with the airline now serving Edingurh, London-Heathrow and Manchester.
Only Cardiff is missing from its previous passenger network.
For passengers, it will be a welcome choice – providing they can price flights accordingly out of the airport. For those with oneworld status, it will delivera much-needed long-haul options out of the regional airport.
