ANA plans a major increase of services to China.

24/04/2023 by Kevincm

All Nippon Airways (ANA) is preparing to increase capacity between Japan and China, as well as adding capacity to Munich.

The airline is increasing capacity out of Toyko and Osaka to destinations across China and Hong Kong, as well as an extra flight a week to Munich.

Breaking down the list of the connectivity between Japan and China:

  • Tokyo Narita – Dalian – Increases from two flights a week to four from the 5th of May
  • Tokyo Narita – Shanghai Pudong – Increases from three flights a week to daily from the 1st of May, raising to three flights a day on city pair to Pudong and Hongqiao
  • Tokyo Narita – Guangzhou – Increases from two flights a week to daily from the 1st of May
  • Tokyo Narita – Beijing – Increases from two flights a week to three from the 6th of May
  • Tokyo Narita – Hong Kong – Increases from three flights a week to a daily service from 1st/2nd July.
  • Tokyo Haneda – Shenzen – A daily service will operate between 20th May to 25th June, with further services to be confirmed. This replaces the existing Narita – Shenzen service.
  • Kansai International (Osaka) – Shanghai –  Three-flight-a-week services will commence on the 1st of May.

Finally

  • Tokyo Narita to Munich – Increases from three flights a week to four flights from the 6th of June/7th of June

A major boost for travelling to and from China

With travel restrictions easing, China continues to be a market which airlines are seeking to tap – be it for business or leisure customers, with an additional 20 flights being laid on between Japan and China.

Depending on the timings, these could be of great use to international travellers who whist to change at Narita International, rather than in China or elsewhere. It’s also a sign there is confidence in the market, as the Osaka to Shanghai route makes a reappearance after three years.

In addition, there will be welcome additional capacity on the Munich-Narita route, which should offer 300 extra seats a week between the two cities.

And long haul capacity is always welcome – provided it is profitable.

With further changes possible down the line, it will be interesting to see which routes gain additional traffic as we transition from the Summer season to the Winter season.
