It’s Saturday again, but more important than that, it’s Eurovision Song Contest Saturday.

And I might be near Liverpool, if not in it.

However, we have things that must go on, so it’s time for Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond.

We’re in the Liverpool City Region for this weekend – but not at the event. However, the Superlambananas are out in force. And everyone loves a Superlambanana.

This is going out a lot earlier than normal, as I’m going to be married to the Eurovision Grand Final. So… umm. enjoy,

  • Frontier Airlines kicks off a massive expansion at San Juan – More connectivity to Puerto Rico.
  • Porter Airlines firms up Embraer E192-E2 operations out for Toronto Pearson for the summer – Trans-continental flying via Toronto Pearson
  • ITA Airways to add intermodal travel options – Planes, Trains and Coaches.

  • Emirates plans to double its SkyCargo capacity – with a pair of wet-leased Boeing 747-400Fs to start with.
  • Ryanair to order up to 300 Boeing 737 MAX 10 aircraft – And it seems relationships have warmed enough for a buying frenzy
  • Philippine Airlines signs for nine Airbus A350-1000 – More long-distance routes ahead
  • Qatar Airways introduces its Boeing 737 MAX 8 into service

  • Air New Zealand unveils further plans for its Skynest economy-sleeper product – $400 for 4 hours maybe?
  • Emirates to mostly abandon paper boarding passes out of Dubai – Digitisation at the risk of digital exclusion?
