Etihad Airways is preparing to add something new to its network, with a planned route launch between Abu Dhabi and Osaka.
The airline plans to operate a five-times-a-week service from the 1st of October 2023.
The route will operate Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays between Abu Dhabi International and Kansai International for Osaka. Flights from Osaka depart one day later.
Etihad will be flying a two-class Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on this new route, with ticketing open.
Introducing this route will support the growing trade and tourism ties between the countries and add to Etihad’s existing Tokyo service.

“We’re delighted to introduce flights to Osaka for the first time,” said Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways. “As one of the world’s most cosmopolitan cities, I know visitors will enjoy exploring its heritage and sampling some of Osaka’s renowned hospitality.
“Equally, the new route opens up Abu Dhabi to visitors from Osaka, and we look forward to welcoming guests to our vibrant home as well as giving them access to our growing, global network.”
Life Beyond a Capital
We sometimes make the mistake that there is no life beyond a capital or major city – but as we all know, people live, work, tour, rest and so on, well beyond a capital or a city’s limits.
It is welcoming to see that Etihad is trying a new route out (and backed with the intelligence to launch it) to offer its customers a destination beyond Tokyo’s bright lights and offer easier access to Central and Western Japan.
