Going to Heathrow by Underground over the Weekend? Plan Ahead

26/05/2023 by Kevincm

If you use London Undergroud’s Piccadilly Line service to travel to and from Heathrow Airport, you will need to make new plans for the weekend

The Piccadilly line will be closed late at night on Friday late night (after 00:45) Saturday 28th, Sunday 29th and Monday 30th for engineering work.

The engineering work will be between Hammersmith, Acton Town and Heathrow Airport, with connectivity affected.

Alternative routes

If you’re planning to travel from Central London to Heathrow, you are advised to use the Elizabeth Line between Heathrow and Central London where possible. Alternatively, you can use the Heathrow Express.

Alternatively, there are rail replacement buses, with two routes running, depending on the time of day.

Saturday from 04:45, Sunday and Monday

  •  PL3: Limited service between Hammersmith and Heathrow Terminals 2&3 only, during the day.

Transport for London advises that you use the Elizabeth line between Central London and Heathrow where possible to complete your journey.

A fare reminder

Even if the Underground was running, it’s a good time for a general reminder that Transport for London has implemented “Peak fares at all times” for travel by underground or Elizabeth line into London. We have coverage of that here.

Currently, that will cost £13.30 on the Elizabeth line or £5.35 via Underground only when paying by Contactless or Oyster.
