Austrian Airlines introduces its new long-haul catering concept named “Tastefully Austrian.”
Let us see what makes it Tasteful and Austrian.
Starting in mid-June, the inflight experience will feature an expanded culinary offering and a unique presentation of food and beverages.
The concept allows passengers more customization options and flexibility to adapt their onboard meals to their personal preferences. Additionally, the Flying Chef was reintroduced in April.
In Business Class, passengers can expect a range of new highlights, including a bar snack with the welcome drink or an expanded selection with the addition of a soup due to its popularity. They can choose between two international main courses and also enjoy an Austrian signature dish.
A special highlight is the Viennese coffee house service brought into the cabin, with passengers being able to look forward to a variety of coffees prepared right in front of them and served together with the dessert.
Additionally, a separate cheese trolley with digestive options will be presented in the cabin.
Meanwhile, down the cabin, there are changes in Premium Economy and Economy Class for long haul traveller.
This includes new recipes and creations offered in the proven three- or four-course menus with two main course options. On all long-haul flights, a light dish or a small breakfast will also be served.

Returning services and adding value
For a lot of business class travellers, the welcome return of the Vienna-style coffee service will be a wonderful thing to see in the air – least of all, it marks a return of services that were suspended.
With the chef back too and a new menu to support the cabin, there appears to be strength in the service level.
We’ll have to see how that holds out.
