Iberia is updating its passenger experience on board its flights – with new meal redesigns and changes revealed.
These improvements will be implemented in all cabins – Business, Premium Economy and Economy – including the redesign of the menus, improved services on long-haul flights, and a new personalised digital experience.
The airline has redesigned its in-flight meals globally with the help of its catering provider- DO & CO. This is to improve the quality of the menu designs in all cabins and flights, maintaining the essence of Spanish cuisine and products.

The new menu took flight earlier this week, across its long-haul services to start with, followed by short- and medium-haul flight
In Economy Class and Premium Economy Long-haul, improvements include a ”movie snack”. On flights less than 10.5 hours from Madrid, a Magnum Choc Ice is offered, while a cookie will be provided during flights to Madrid so that customers can enjoy them while watching a movie.
On longer flights originating from Madrid, a tapas bag service will be offered, which includes a selection of cold cuts, bread sticks and olives (a vegetarian version is also available). On return flights, customers will be served sandwiches and, on night flights, crackers and cookies.
Improvements continue in Business class. The snack service is updated with new healthy products, such as fruit baskets, and hot and cold sandwiches.
The service before landing has been improved, with additional products, depending on the arrival time of the flight, such as hot and cold sweet and savoury dishes, in addition to the Iberia signature omelette for breakfast.
New Range of Gastrobar Products
There is also a new Gastrobar range, with a new selection of drinks, sweet and savoury snacks. Some of the new products this season are snack boxes, Starbucks coffee, new Tetera Azul teas and amenity kits.
To make it easier for customers to select their drinks, later in the summer, the airline will launch the new service Gastrobar@seat so they can make their selection directly from their phones.
To reduce waste, those passengers who bring their own cup will benefit from a discount on their coffee or tea orders from the Gastrobar service.
Improving the onboard experience
It’s good to see that Iberia is looking beyond its headline cabin and updating the passenger experience for all passengers on an aircraft – sometimes economy (and even premium economy) customers can get forgotten about when there are elevations and changes.
Do & Co’s catering is a well-known option – with British Airways and Turkish Airlines using them heavily, as well as many other airlines, such as Air Canada, AirCHina, Asiana, Emirates, Etihad, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, TAP, SWISS and many, many more.
Again – it’s all down to how it works in the real world – I’d be interested to see how the passenger experience is executed with these changes.

I found their US-Madrid biz class catering quite nice earlier in the month, surprising given all the reviews. The disappointment was not much ‘spanish’ about the main courses, but maybe this will fix that.
