It’s Sunday again, so it must be time for some more Airplane Art.
This week, we have a Japan Airlines Boeing 777-300ER on final approach to Chicago O’Hare International as the aircraft completes the flight from Tokyo (and if you squint your eyes, there’s a United Airlines Boeing 737 taking off in the background).
Japan Airlines operates a fleet of 13 Boeing 777-300ERs in its widebody fleet. The airline also operates the Airbus A350-900, Boeing 767-300ER, Boeing 777-200ER, Boeing 787-8 and Boeing 787-9 in its widebody operation.
These aircraft are used on domestic and international operations with different connections, connecting the land of the rising sun to the world.
This aircraft – JA731J – is a little more interesting than normal, with it having its first flight in April 2003 and being the second Boeing prototype of the Boeing 777-300ER. It was sold on to Japan Airlines, joining the fleet in June 2004, where it has remained since.
In recent days, the aircraft has operated out of Toyko Haneda airport, flying to London Heathrow, New York JFK, Paris Charles de Gaulle, and Los Angeles International.
More Airplane Art next week!
