Etihad to launch Abu Dhabi to Boston services in Spring 2024

02/08/2023 by Kevincm

Etihad Airways is expanding its US presence after a long time with Boston as its next destination in the region.

Etihad Airways Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner

The carrier is planning to launch a four-times-a-week service from 31st March 2024 onwards.

The planned operations are as follows:

EY147 DEPART AUH 03:10 ARRIVE BOS 08:55
EY148 DEPART BOS  15:55 ARRIVE AUH 12:00+1

Commences 31st March 2024
Operates Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sunday
Booked Equipment: Boeing 787-9

This will be Etihad’s fourth US gateway, complementing services to Chicago, New York, and Washington, along with flights to Toronto in Canada after the airline contracted its operations.

Etihad will offer connections to cities throughout North America through its partnership with jetBlue.

In Quotes

Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways

“We are delighted to introduce flights to Boston, which opens up Abu Dhabi to visitors from the American Northeast and across the United States,”

“We eagerly await welcoming guests to our extraordinary home as well as offering them access to our growing global network.

Ah. The Copy. And the translation.

There’s a lot in the blurb about how:

” Boston holds a special place in the hearts of many Emiratis who have studied there. Its prestigious universities and welcoming atmosphere have fostered lasting friendships and transformative experiences, making it a city deeply cherished by past and present Emirati students and their families.”

Evidently, as well as business traffic, the airline is targeting leisure travellers as well, with investments in the region, both in healthcare and education.

It seems that a link is needed to facilitate people going between the two cities, without having to change aircraft at New York or Dubai or elsewhere in the travel chain.

Ticketing open

Ticketing for the flights is open, with both economy and business class seating on sale.
