It’s Sunday again, so it must be time for some more Airplane Art.
This week, we have an Iberia Airbus A330-200 landing at London Heathrow Airport after a short hop from Madrid (with an Air China Boeing 777-300ER parked at the cargo terminal).
Iberia operates a fleet of 13 Airbus A330-200 (the range-optimised variant) in its widebody fleet. The airline also operates the Airbus A330-300 and Airbus A350-900 to support its widebody operation, connecting Madrid Barajas Airport to the world.
It’s not uncommon to see a widebody between London Heathrow and Madrid – as the cargo may be more valuable than the passengers being carried aboard, requiring a larger aircraft for the segment. Economy Class and Beyond tried this in 2019, with Iberia and British Airways on the Heathrow-Madrid route.
This aircraft – EC-MUD – is also known as Johannesburgo. It joined the Iberia fleet in March 2018, making it five and half years old at the time of writing. It recently operated out its Madrid home to San Jose (Costa Rica), Lima (Peru), San Francisco (USA), Panama City (Panama), Miami (USA) and Montevideo (Uruguay).
More Airplane Art Next Week!
