Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive,  Mr Akbar Al Baker said:

“We continue to offer seamless connectivity to our passengers from the U.S. market and beyond with the support of our strategic partners. Our unwavering commitment to our longstanding U.S. partners, American Airlines, JetBlue and Alaska Airlines is built on our mission to connect the world through our hub to our 160 destinations and more. We look forward to building more connections and uniting global passengers from across the world.”

Adding frequency to the network

Qatar Airways has a big footprint in the USA already, serving Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas Fort Worth, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York-JFK, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington-Dulles.

The expansion of services to New York shows that there is still plenty of connecting traffic to be hoovered up, along with the demand to fill it, with a 777-300ER’s worth of passengers being able to be carried.

And depending on slots, other Middle East airlines might be sniffing out more passengers for their services too, if they can get competitive slots.

Of note, this isn’t to EOS but only to end of March. Curious at to why they are adding a third JFK slot over a second ORD slot with better AA connectivity…

Whislt it may not be as large as O’Hare, New York has O&D draw, as well as connecting traffic…

Route planners minds are hard things to work out some days.
