Emirates is offering an interesting option for those arriving at Tokyo – a new complimentary bus service for its Economy Class passengers arriving at Tokyo-Haneda Airport.
The new service starts on the 1st of September.
Emirates will be the only air carrier in Japan to offer a complimentary bus service from Haneda Airport to major train stations within Tokyo, guaranteeing seamless and efficient transport solutions for the airline’s customers to two prominent drop-off locations – the Tokyo Station (TYQ) at Marunouchi North Entrance and the Shinagawa Station (SGS) at Konan Entrance bus stop no. 7.
The new service will be available at Haneda Airport’s Terminal 3 Charter Bus Parking spot which is equipped with a three-letter IATA code, allowing passengers to seamlessly arrange their bookings all the way through their final stations.
Emirates service EK312 is booked to arrive at Tokyo Haneda Terminal 3 at 22:35.
Bus number EK7034 departs from Haneda International Airport at 00:01hrs and arrives at Tokyo Station (TYQ) at 00:40hrs. Bus number EK7036 will depart from Haneda International Airport at 00:01hrs, arriving at Shinagawa Station (SGS) at 00:30hrs.
That gives you an hour and 26 minutes to clear formalities to get to the bus.
In theory, this should get you to two key destinations in Tokyo in under 40 minutes. The bus will feature onboard toilets too for those who have rushed from luggage collection and immigration.
In the case of delayed flight arrival, the bus will wait until 01:00hrs local time the following day to accommodate the passengers and drop them off at the designated stations.
Skipping some of the sky-high Tokyo taxi prices
Sometimes having the option of getting you most of the way to your destination is enough – with Tokyo station and Shinagawa being major hubs, with hotels in walking range, or… yes, a taxi ride.
The times these buses run are after the last monorail service and the last train service departs Haneda airport – leaving you to the taxi operators.
And Tokyo’s taxi prices are not what most of us would consider “cheap”.
For those who are saving a few pennies on a Japan trip, this could be invaluable as you acclimatise to Japan on your first night, knowing that you can get close to your hotel.
