The Wonder of Dublin Airport Arrivals
Doughnuts on the Mound 4

In this feeble excuse for a day out to Dublin:

  • Cheap flights, Cheap flights, Could have gone by sea…
  • The joy of Birmingham Airport at 6 am in the morning
  • FR661 Birmingham Airport to Dublin Airport
  • The Wonder of Dublin T1 Arrivals
  • Doughnuts, Friends and Plane Spotting – Airplane Art Extra
  • Back to Dublin Airport Terminal 1 – Retail, Retail, Everywhere…
  • FR666 Dublin Airport to Birmingham Airport
  • To the buses. Wait… buses?
  • It’s about friends

With the fresh rain of a Dublin morning splattering down, I headed into the terminal area. Given that the aircraft had arrived at the 100 gates, I was looking forward to a 10-minute walk to Immigration.

You can bet some just ramp up the power for fun.

In we go.

At least I was ready for it and Airport Exercise is free exercise – no matter the time of the day.

Arriving travellers at Dublin Airport are separated from departing passengers – making turnarounds for those on mileage runs harder if you are on a tight timeframe.

Falite!

Once through the connector between the 100 gates and the main Terminal 1 area, I was at the Irish Border.

Passengers were divided into UK/EU/Swiss and the Rest of the World, with the queues moving quite quickly – taking only a few minutes to be seen.

My passport was examined, and I was allowed into Ireland. As Ireland and the United Kingdom operate a Common Travel Area, there is no need for passport stamping (and in addition, Ireland is not in the Schengen zone).

With that, it was a case of finding the small room and heading to the border.

A pretty painless arrivals experience – a reminder of what travel was like before the Blue Passport brigade had their way and ruined things. With no luggage to claim, I headed through the green channel and to the public area.

The point of no return.

Once in the public zone, I headed upstairs to meet my friends. Dublin Airport was of course, now nice and sunny. Rain and Sun would be a feature of the day ahead.

Because this is Dublin.

That glowing thing without the rain would have been perfect 30 minutes ago.

Waiting for friends. Sun? Rain? It’s all the same at Dublin Airport

Next. Planes. Friends. Doughnuts.

And Offbeat donuts at that.

We tried using Aer Lingus from Seattle to CDG via Dublin it was the first and last time we will use Aer Lingus. The flight going over was fine upon arrival we walked as far as we ever have in an international terminal to the inter Schengen gates/flights. That area is cramped crowded and not pleasant.

While our experience might be a one off I doubt it. We could have used a donut maybe two on that trip!!
