Emirates is continuing its Premium Economy expansion, as the refurbishment programme continues – with two new destinations in the offing.
The Premium Economy product will be added to services to São Paolo from 19 November 2023 and Tokyo Narita from 20 December 2023.
Sao Paolo will become the airline’s fifth point in its North and South American network where flights will operate with the new cabin class, while Tokyo Narita will become the second gateway in Emirates’ Far East network which offers its latest cabin product, featuring extra legroom, premium features and amenities.
From 19 November, travellers flying between Dubai and São Paolo can book Emirates’ Premium Economy seats on EK261/262, which will initially be available three times weekly, scaling up to daily flights in December. Premium Economy on flights EK318/319, to and from Tokyo Narita, will launch as a daily offering from 20 December.
The Seat and Cabin
As a reminder – this will be a four-class aircraft, with 14 First Class suites, 76 Business Class Beds, 56 Premium Economy seats and 338 Economy Class seats. These seats themselves are from the Recaro PL3530 line of seats, which have been customised for the airline and are in a 2-4-2 formation in the aircraft.
Besides featuring the new Premium Economy seats, the enhanced aircraft that will operate on the routes also have refreshed interiors through the cabin.
Network coverage
Premium Economy coverage is still growing, as Emirates continues its fleet refresh of its Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 fleets. Currently, the airline flies its A380s with Premium Economy seats to London Heathrow, Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, Christchurch, Singapore, Los Angeles, New York JFK, Houston and San Francisco.
Premium Economy will also debut on Emirates flights to Mumbai and Bengaluru from 29 October.
Emirates case for Premium Economy – travellers trading up
Emirates has been gaining passengers on its Premium Economy product – with over 160,000 choosing the product over economy class.
According to the airline, Premium Economy is popular amongst leisure and business travellers, solo travellers, families and more opting to upgrade their travel experience.
It’s no small wonder – one of the things people like in the air is space. Combined with a larger seat, more legroom along with improved dining options – as well as loyalty bonuses people are trading up, whilst filling a space in the aircraft with higher yielding passengers.
As the Premium Economy refit continues, there will be more routes added. We’ll keep an eye on those new routes.
