Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond (30th September)

30/09/2023 by Kevincm

As the nights draw in a little earlier, and the summer dreams turn into autumn plans, it’s time to look back as we close out September and head into October.

Yep – it’s time for Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond.

Of sunnier evenings. Heading towards Centenary Square through Paradise, with the Hall of Memory in front

  • Air France-KLM Group signs for additional Airbus A350 aircraft – 5o firm, options for 40 more
  • Cathay Group formally signs for 32 Airbus A320neo family aircraft – And someone signed the order at Cathay HQ.

Passenger Experience

  • Transavia to offer inflight ordering, with purchasable IFE – Powered by AirFi.
  • Lufthansa to refit cabins in some of their A320 fleet – Larger overhead bins, seats with USB Power and IFE tray tables inbound for… 38 of the Lufthansa A320 fleet.

  • KLM opens two Crown Lounges in North America – Some new choices in Houston and Toronto

The Business of Aviation

  • Southampton Airport opens its runway extension – maybe this will get airlines with larger aircraft to visit…
  • Gatwick Airport imposes temporary movement limits – We’ll have to see if this stretches into next week.

Pretty Pictures

  • Finnair Airbus A350-900 at Helsinki Airport

Next Week

I’ve got work to do in the background – so there might be a bit of peace and quiet, as I try to massage a fare down a little for a classic Tier Point run.

However, once I surface from fighting a fare engine or five, there might be an end-of-year adventure coming up. We’ll have to see.

On top of that when I do come up for air, I’ll have news, views, thoughts and my usual spin on the world. As well as plenty of misspelt headlines.

Until then, Happy Landings!
