easyJet’s investor slides have come out today, and whilst there are all the fun things, like how upgaging is helping them, there are some slides about a new aircraft order.
Time to dive in.

Why is easyJet ordering aircraft? It’s part of its renewal plan, as well as a method of meeting its net zero commitments. They will also push the move to upguage the fleet, whilst driving their fuel burn down.
The order will be delivered between 2029 and 2034, allowing the airline to secure delivery positions – something even as Airbus heads to 75 aircraft being delivered a month, are scarce – even well into the future.
At this time, it seems that the airline has agreed commercial terms with Airbus in regards to the order.
The current renewal plan up until 2028 will focus on the removal of the Airbus A319 fleet, as well as some A320ceo aircraft.
At the time of writing 69 aircraft of their current A320neo family order have been delivered, with 90 A320neo and 68 A321neo aircraft to be delivered. This will increase the average seat count across the fleet from 179 to the low-190 – allowing the airline to carry more passengers at less cost.
easyJet proposes that it places a firm order for 157 aircraft – split between 56 A320neo & 101 A321neo, with 100 additional purchase rights. This will allow for the removal of half of the existing A320ceo fleet, and increase the average seat count to the low-200s across the fleet.
To power the aircraft, easyJet has entered into exclusive negotiations with CFM for the supply of engines.
By 2030, the airline intends to have the A319 fleet removed, and by 2033 have 80% of its fleet in the A320neo family.
The order and plan are subject to shareholder approval.
