Good afternoon. Well, that’s a lie, and I know it.
I’m writing this after a pleasant morning in Zurich… to find my onward flight back to London is in the bin.
I should declare at this stage, that the original flight I selected had been cancelled, and I’ve been moved onto a new flight.
Now it seems they want me at a different airport… that’s a good 80km away, with my journey back to London now departing from… Basel Europort.
There is an F word I can use for this, but I am trying to keep calm.
And failing.
The worst part was that I was on my way back to Zurich airport when I got the text message about the cancellation. A little late, to put it mildly.
So what now?
I’m on another SBB train, Chf 45 down and less than impressed with British Airways.
The other option was overnighting in Zurich, and at IHG prices… that wouldn’t happen.
I wanted a birthday adventure today. What’s that old term?
Be careful what you wish for. You might just get it.
For now, it’s a good hour or so to the next destination.
Time to get comfy and watch the world go by.
Apologies for the grammatical errors. I’ll update this once home.
For now, I have bigger fish to fry.

Unfortunately the automated rebooking tool will just rebook you onto the next available flight it can do. But you don’t have to accept it. You can change it yourself. Keep all receipts and submitted them to BA and you’ll get a refund
