It marks the first time an airline has picked up the Rome-FCO – City Airport pair since the pandemic changed other airlines’ priorities.
The airline plans to launch the route on the 1st of April 2024, with the airline planning to launch a 12 times a week service to the airport. Times are variable, so it’s worth checking on the ITA Airways site for the latest, with typically two flights a day during weekdays and a daily flight during the weekends (but outside the flight-ban times at LCY.
The route served with the new Airbus A220-100.
Additional Capacity to Milan
For the fashionistas, ITA Airways is adding an additional frequency between Milan Linate and London City Airport from the 10th of April 2024 for the summer season. This will bring the route frequency up to five times a week.
This route will also feature an Airbus A220-100 being used on the route.

Anne Doyere, Aviation Director, London City Airport, said:
“We’re delighted to strengthen our partnership with ITA Airways and bring back another key route into our network as we continue to recover and grow.
“Rome will open up a huge range of new travel options for those on connecting flights, so we look forward to welcoming many new passengers to London City”.
A target market for ITA
It seems that ITA Airways senses there is a very ripe market to address, with its planned daily flights to Rome and expansion of its Milan service for the upcoming season – especially with the main operator at London City Airport – BA Citiflyer – not choosing to fly to Rome at this time.
It’ll be interesting to see how they respond to ITA Airways’ operation.
