Icelandair will also be receiving a suite of digital solutions from Panasonic Avionics, including Marketplace, OneMedia, Arc Moving Map and ZeroTouch/
Marketplace, which is Panasonic Avionics’ turn-key eCommerce experience platform, is designed to help Icelandair extend its service and ancillary sales efforts.
Meanwhile, the OneMedia platform delivers intelligent and targeted advertisements that will enable Icelandair to increase ancillary revenue and promote products and partnerships as part of the engaging entertainment experience being delivered by Astrova, delivering targeting capabilities and easy-to-use campaign management and analytics tools.
Arc is Panasonic Avionics’ 3D integrated moving map application, which is designed to enrich the passenger travel experience by providing point-of-interest content. It delivers advanced map design with a range of compelling features including real-time flight data, street map views, details of points of interest, and world clock time zones.

Finally, Panasonic Avionics’ ZeroTouch service will enable dynamic and agile content and file transfer to and from Icelandair’s new A321neo LR aircraft. It will provide the infrastructure to support efficient application-based data movement over cell modem, along with real-time access to fleet inventory content, passenger data software, media, and content updates to deliver a relevant and personalized experience for Icelandair’s passengers.
This will be underpinned by its IFE operating system (OS) that will enable Icelandair to build and deliver their passengers’ experiences faster and with greater frequency. This involves shared system services and utilities that enable faster delivery, efficient maintenance, and higher innovation-to-market velocity. This will allow airlines to quickly build, test, and deploy new applications using industry-standard technologies.
As a result, Icelandair will be able to manage its own application deployments to the IFE System

Another Astrova win
We’re seeing a lot of traction on the Astrova platform since its announcement at Aircraft Interiors Expo in 2022, but importantly, airlines signing on for the platforms that underpin the seat-end IFE system
And it shows there’s a lot of room in the platform growth and development – especially when airlines can customise an IFE system without going back to the vendor to do it for them.
With airlines constantly reviewing their IFE platforms (both in terms of business case and requirement), expect to see further deployments in the future.
