The move comes as this fleet begins its transformation to an Airbus-based carrier. The aircraft has been delivered to Transavia Airlines lease from Air Lease Corporation.
The Airbus A321neo was delivered from Airbus’ Hamburg production facilities taking advantage of Airbus’ option for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) on its delivery flight to Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport.
With this new aircraft, Transavia became a new Airbus operator of the type.
Inside the aircraft, the A321neo for Transavia Airlines will seat 232 passengers in a single-class layout (compared to the 189-seater 737s). The cabin features Airbus’ Airspace XL bins, which will aid passengers when loading their bags aboard. These larger bins provide 40% more stowage space than previous ones for a more relaxed boarding experience for passengers and cabin crew.
In addition, USB-C ports are available for passengers at every seat, and the latest lighting system enhances the overall passenger experience.
In terms of routes, when deployed, the aircraft will fly medium-haul routes in Europe from Schiphol, the largest base of Transavia Netherlands and hub of KLM, and from Paris-Orly, the largest base of Transavia France.

There’s not long to wait, with Transaavia Airways planning to start flying the type commercially from the 5th January 2024. It’ll be the first for the airline, as it begins a seven-year journey to transition away from using Boeing 737 aircraft .
The move is part of a massive Air France-KLM order, which covered an order book of 100 Airbus A320neo family aircraft – in this case the A320neo and A321neo.
As for KLM, they should be getting their first Airbus single-aisle aircraft in Mid-2024.
Lots to look forward to.
