It’s clear that this city means something to Emirates, with the airline planning to relaunch Airbus A380 services to Vienna.
From 21st February until the end of the winter flight schedule (30th March 2024), flights EK127 and EK 128 which are currently operated by a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft will be upgraded to a three-class A380 aircraft, boosting capacity and adding more options for travellers to and from Vienna.
Emirates’ flight EK127 leaves Dubai at 08:55 and arrives in the Austrian capital at 12:25. The return flight EK128, departs Vienna at 15:10 and arrives in Dubai at 23:40.
The airline will use a three-class A380 on the route, with 14 seats in First Class, 76 in Business Class and 429 seats in Economy Class, whilst freight capacity remains the same.
The evening flights EK 126 and EK 125 will continue to be operated as usual with a Boeing 777-300 ER.

Elisabeth Zauner, Country Manager Emirates Austria, aid
“The deployment of our A380 until the end of the winter schedule is a great milestone for us, which emphasises the importance of Vienna as a destination and as a departure point. We naturally hope that our flagship will return permanently in the future.”
A temporary return
Vienna has been without an Emirates A380 operating since August 2022. As such, its a battle of economics and availability if that aircraft returns to a route or not.
As well as sheer passenger numbers.
The airline has 116 of the type on its books, with 90 or so of those in active service, connecting destinations across the Emirates Global network.
It’s going to be interesting to see if Vienna can pull the traffic that an A380 requires to make it viable on a year-round basis.
Was there a music reference?
If there was, it meant nothing to me. It meant nothing to me. Oh, Vienna…
