It’s time for another Snapshot, looking at the hotel experience at the Crowne Plaza Burlingame, near San Francisco International Airport.
Booking
This hotel was booked on a pre-paid rate from IHG’s site. For the night, it was charged at US$88+tax and fees.
Location
The Crowne Plaza is near the airport – with it being around a 10-minute taxi ride away. It’s accessible by car, taxi, rideshare and shuttle bus, allowing access to BART and CalTrain as needed.
Check-in
I arrived just after midnight, so there were no queues to be checked in.
Along with the agreed rate, a $50 holding charge was applied to the room.
With the keycards issued, I headed to my room.
The Room
The room was at the end of one of the corridors. Dominating the room was a king-sized bed.
This had both mains power and USB-A outlets by each bedside to charge electronics.
There was a table with a TV on it, with a fridge underneath.
On the desk was a coffee maker – with IHG standardising on some sort of Keurig machine in the Americas.
To the side, there was an occasional chair, with an ottoman and table.
In the bathroom, there were bulk-style/pump action amenities for soap, shampoo and conditioner – along with a bathtub.
The room had extra pillows if needed and an ironing board and iron.
By the sink, there were additional bulk products, as well as individual hand soap.
The View
The room faced out onto route US-101 – the perfect view of the Bay area to wake up to.
Check out
On the way out, I passed the dining options for the hotel – an on-site restaurant and a vending area near reception.
With my checkout confirmed, and no extra charges needing to be applied, I headed out to meet the Shuttle bus back to San Francisco International Airport.
The full review of the Crown Plaza Burlingame is coming soon.

I’ve rarely stayed at IHG properties, but got the IHG card recently when the offer was 175K and just redeemed my first points at the Crowne Plaza and Portland. What a meh exp[experience. I wasn’t expecting anything special and it sure wasn’t. Looked pretty similar to your pics here. Are all Crowne Plaza’s so lackluster? Whenever I look for IHG properties, the options seem to be HI, HI express or Crowne Plaza with Kimptons at astrononmical prices. I just don’t’ see much use for the points beyond quick overnights where I don’t care too much about the place. For anything longer, I usually want to feel like I’m on vacation with a bit of style and not in a “it gets the job done” type of hotel.

The Crowne Plaza is very…. Meh.
The Intercontinental in San Francisco is a *lot* better
I’ve tended to use Crowne Plazas as crash pads, rather than medium terms stay options. Some are reasonable (the one in Brussels and Geneva come to mind).
US ones… vary. The one near SFO is need of a massive update.

Is there anything more to say about this forgettable property. (which charges for the airport shuttle)?
Kevincm says
Not a lot. Although I managed not pay for the shuttle on the way back from the airport. (Cash was in hand).
That and it needs a complete refurbishmet. Its no wonder its the cheapest IHG property in the area.

All blogger reviews should include the rate paid and the booking channel used.

There are occasions where I don’t disclose the rate I get (normally a group rate) or when a company sponored a rate (in which case, I will disclose who sponored the hotel or trip).
I try for transpaency – however, as you can appreciate – it’s not always possible.
