Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond (17th February)

17/02/2024 by Kevincm

It’s that time of the week again when I try to put links together, add witty commentary and try to make sense of the week.

Yes, it’s Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond.

a box of pills on a table
Winter cold and flu have finally arrived at Economy Class and Beyond towers. Whoopeee do.

TRIP REPORT: Polishing Silver

The first three parts have managed to sneak across the finish line this week – and I suspect there could be another four next week, providing I start adding witty commentary to images and finish typing the thing. I forgot that when I write… I can write.

  • A Tier Point run with Ryanair, American Airlines and British Airways
  • Off unto the abyss. Or Birmingham Airport
  • Ryanair FR669 Birmingham Airport to Dublin Airport

Paint your wagon aircraft

  • KLM revises its paintwork for the upcoming Airbus A321neo as it firms up its deployment plans – Some neo-blue for you.

Passenger Experience

  • Emirates goes all red for Valentine’s Day – And *poof* gone for another year. Discount chocolates at all good retailers, whilst stock last.
  • Emirates unveils how many of you have been dining in the sky. Hint: It’s a lot   – Speaking of dining in the sky, how many packs of snacks were served? Hint – it’s a lot more than you think

Routes and Networks

  • Akasa Air plots its first international route – Off to Doha – Mumbai to Doha, four times a week. Gotta start somewhere.
  • T’Way Air to kick off its first international route to Zagreb – It’s a bit of a brutal outbound journey – but could help Korean Air and Asiana Airlines close their merger

Trains

  • Greater Anglia to install tables on its Stansted Express trains – It’s amazing what hindsight is like
  • Transport for London rebrands its London Overground lines – Six new line names. Cue whining for those who don’t have accessibility issues.

Pretty Pictures

  • Etihad Boeing 787-10 “Greenliner” arriving at London Heathrow

Next Week:

I might have a cold, and probable man flu, but the world will go on. We’ve got plenty of stories from the San Francisco trip, as we take it in to high gear.

On top of that, we’ll have our usual mix of headlines and views – as well as a few other bits and bobs.

Until then, Happy Landings.

Now, where did I put that generic brand Lempsip…?

Lots of covid going around. It is a typical flu but much more contagious. Get well soon.
