Qatar Airways to return to Lisbon, Portugal

22/02/2024 by Kevincm

Qatar Airways is growing its network, with the airline planning to return to Lisbon, Portugal as part of its 2024 network expansion.

The airline will serve Lisbon with four times a week flights. commencing on Thursday, 6 June 2024.

The planned operation is as follows:

QR341 DEPART DOH 14:25 ARRIVE LIS 20:25
QR342 DEPART LIS 22:00 ARRIVE DOH 07:30+1

Commences 6th June 2024
Operates Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays
Booked Equipment: Qatar Airways Boeing 787-8

Qatar Airways will deploy a Boeing 787-8 on this route. This is configured with 22 Business Class seats (based on the Collins Aerospace SuperDiamond) and 232 Economy Class seats.

This latest addition to the summer schedule opens up new entry points for international travel from Europe, through Lisbon, to the continents of Africa and Asia, as well as the subcontinent of India. The airline also offers stopovers in Doha, too.

Qatar Airways Chief Commercial Officer, Mr. Thierry Antinori, said:

“As we continue to expand in the European market, we celebrate the resumption of our flights to the beautiful city of Lisbon. Qatar Airways passengers can now enjoy very efficient ways to travel between Qatar and Portugal, as well as connect between Portugal and Asia, Africa, Middle East and the Indian subcontinent, through the Best Airport in Middle East which offers customers the best duty free and best lounges in the region.”

Slow and steady

It’s good to see Qatar Airways adding Lisbon back to its network, giving Portuguese customers access to the network, without the need to connect via Madrid or another hub airport before they travel onwards.

Sometimes a steady growth strategy is a good thing allowing aircraft to be allocated

Hopefully, traffic will be as such, and we might see the route go back to a daily operation. For now, four times a week is a starting point.
