City lights (the joy of early morning travel)

19/03/2024 by Kevincm

Cruising through a city’s lights at 3 am… or 3:30am in the morning is a done thing here at Economy Class and Beyond.

inside a bus with a road and lights

I could never leave you in the city lights. I could never beat the storm in your eyes. The storm in your bright eyes – Blanche, City Lights.

Once again, I find myself sitting on a coach, going from the lights of the city to those of constantly on red brake lights and the oncoming white lights of traffic in the other carriageway.

Or at least it has better be on the other carriageway.

Sleep comes hard at this point – especially when you’ve been packing like crazy beforehand, when the adrenaline pumps, relaxation becomes a lower priority – even if your body desires to sleep.

So that’s why I’m typing on an iPhone, and swapping between this, various music libraries and a to-do list when I arrive at my destination.

It’s March – most of you should have guessed where I’m going.

And if you can’t, keep an eye out during the next few days. All to be revealed.

As usual, the moment I put my travelling hat on, my posting schedule subscribes to Douglas Adam’s thoughts about time. To paraphrase Ford Prefect’s words

Time is an illusion. Posting time double so.

Perhaps instead of looking at city lights, I should look to The Journey of the Sorcerer.

Posts over the next few days are “as and when” as we’ll keep regular posts at the GMT time. Anything else that grabs my fancy… well, it’s in the queue and will be dealt with in turn.

And yes, the San Francisco trip will be completed this week. Honest.

Thanks for reading this rawer-than-usual writing as I am chauffeured down the M40. When I get to an airport, I might tidy it up a little.

Then again, a little rawness now and again, without the grammar checker makes a change… doesn’t it?

More later on.
