Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond (23rd March)

23/03/2024 by Kevincm

Hello from just outside the Windy City. It’s that time of the week again when I collect the links of things I wrote, scramble them up and convert them into something human-readable.

Yes, it’s time for Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond.

Polishing Silver

Time for the last segments from this trip report. I hope you enjoyed reading it, with the different passenger experiences encountered.

  • BA836 London Heathrow to Dublin Airport (Club Europe)
  • A Two-Hour Irish connection (featuring the Dublin Airport Terminal 1 Lounge)
  • BA4469 Dublin Airport to London City Airport (CLUB EUROPE)
  • Time to head home on the cheap
  • Points in the Baa

Personal Travel views

  • City lights (the joy of early morning travel) – Because posts written on a coach at 3:30 in the morning make the most sense.

Routes and Networks

  • Virgin Atlantic and Kenya Airways launch a partnership agreement – closer ties with a Skyteam partner

New Aircraft News

  • Japan Airlines signs for 42 new aircraft – including wide and narrowbodies – big wins for Airbus, some wins for Boeing
  • Korean Air to sign for the Airbus A350 family – and future wins too, as Korean Airlines plays Pokemon Collector

Passenger Experience

  • Cathay Pacific to work with “Louise” for French-based dining in the sky – let’s see if they can deliver on the promises.
  • Air France to update its Embraer 190 interiors – with new seats
  • SWISS to extend its chocolate partnership – More Frey Chocolate for the next three years

Sustainability in the Air

  • IAE tests its V2500 engine for use with 100% Sustainable Air Fuel – because even older engines will have to run SAF… if there’s ever enough of the fuel.

Pretty Pictures

  • Aer Lingus Airbus A330-300 at Dublin Airport

Next Week

For next week, we’re going to be taking things more than a little easy – as I want a bit of holiday for a few days. We’ll have our usual semi-normal coverage back on Thursday (Maybe Wednesday – we’ll have to see how the jetlag is treating me.

As for this trip – it’s a lot rougher than usual, to put it bluntly.

When we’re back, we’ll have our usual mixture of news, views, thoughts and whatever grabs my fancy.

Until then, happy landings!
