Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond (20th April)

20/04/2024 by Kevincm

It’s that time of week where I assemble what I can into some semblance of links, add a little commentary and ponder a few things about life.

Yes, it’s time for Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond.

The Old Turn Junction -where the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal and Birmingham Old Line Canal meet.

Trip Report – Surprise, Surprise!

The first three segments of the newest trip report have made it out to the real world, after being trapped in the confines of my editing document and working spaces. At least four next week, provided I remember to finish editing up the segments.

  • Transatlantic surprises with American Airlines and British Airways
  • The Road to Nowhere at 2:45 in the morning and the joy of check-in
  • Lounging Around Terminal 3 featuring the Cathay Pacific and American Airlines lounges

Awards Season

We’re fast approaching the Passenger Experience Week in Hamburg – and the Crystal Cabin Awards finalists have been confirmed.

  • Crystal Cabin Awards 2024 – Finalists Announced

Routes and Networks

  • Norse Atlantic Airways to serve London to Cape Town – That’s more than a little different for Norse Ataltanic. Going boldly where no Norweigan airline has gone before…

All things Avios

  • British Airways offers its flights for Avios + £1…. but is it good value? – Depends on how many Avios you need to swap for a flight…
  • Lufthansa’s Allergis to take flight from 1st May from Munich – Finally. But will it be outdated on arrival?

Sustainability

  • Air New Zealand signs for 9 million litres of Sustainable Air Fuel – or just over 1% of its fuel needs for the upcoming summer season.

Pretty Pictures

  • American Airlines Airbus A321 climbing out of Chicago O’Hare

Next Week

Things are in flux, as the Passenger Experience Week comes up – and how long of it I might be there (with some dates putting me there for a day or two, right through to the full week).

It’s complex – to put it bluntly.

On top of my failing at planning this trip, I’ve also got our usual coverage of news, views and other things that grab my eye – as well as the trip report which is now ready to go into full speed.

Until then, Happy Landings!
