Saudi Group (comprising of SAUDIA and flyaDeal) has announced a big order with Airbus today for 105 single-aisle aircraft.
The order comprises 12 A320neo and 93 A321neo aircraft. This increases Saudia Group’s Airbus aircraft order backlog to 144 A320neo family aircraft.
These aircraft will be used to expand the airlines network and attract tourists and businesses to the region as part of the Saudi Vision 2030 plan.
The agreement was announced at the Future Aviation Forum in Riyadh in the presence of H.E. Saleh bin Nasser AIJasser, Minister of Transport and Logistic Services of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, H.E. Engr. Ibrahim Al-Omar, Director General of Saudia Group and Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President of Sales of the Commercial Aircraft business.

Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President of Sales of the Commercial Aircraft business said:
“The new additions of the A320neo family aircraft will play a vital role in contributing to Saudi Arabia’ ambitious Vision 2030 plan,”
“It will enable Saudia Group’s strategy to advance the Kingdom’s aviation capabilities while enabling both airlines to benefit from the A320neo Family’s exceptional efficiency, superior economics, highest level of passenger comfort as well as lower fuel-burn and emissions.”
Another big single-aisle deal
The appetite for single-aisle aircraft continues unabated, with them being used for all sorts of missions – given the range of the Airbus A32neo and A321neo, as well as the flexibility of the type – from premium layouts to a “cram everyone in” low-cost carrier layout.
For Airbus, it’s another big deal, announced at an opportune time for the home carrier, increasing the backlog of the type.
