ATR has been working away with its HighLine premium cabin concept – the idea of using the ATR42 and ATR72 and fitting in premium seating layouts. There’s been a lot of movement since last year.
On the occasion of Aircraft Interiors Expo 2024, ATR unveiled an advanced design for its new All-Business Class configuration.
This will feature a unique 1-1 layout, the All-Business Class interior features spacious individual business seats with direct window view and aisle access, offering exceptional personal space and privacy.
In terms of seating, a design called ‘ETEREA’, was selected.
These new tailor-made seats have been designed and crafted by Geven and provide ample legroom and recline, along with a generous width of 21.6 inches with a 7″ recline. Each seat has a personal side console that serves both as a table and stowage compartment – amenities made possible by the ATR’s wider cross-section, providing a level of comfort and convenience not available in narrower regional jets currently in service.
There is also space under the seat for a large carry-on bag or companion pet
The All-Business Class offers several options, such as an executive ceiling through the removal of overhead bins, USB A+C charging ports, in-flight entertainment, high-speed internet access and high-quality material finishes.

Launch Customer confirmed
ATR signed a launch customer for its all-business cabin, with Malaysia-based airline Berjaya Air choosing to deploy its two customised ATR 72-600 HighLine All-Business Class from 2025 to serve the group’s numerous luxury hotels and resorts.
The modification on Berjaya Air’s aircraft will be executed through a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC).
In addition, this can be retrofitted to ATR72-500, ATR72-600, ATR42-500 and ATR42-600.
Further work ahead
At Aircraft Interiors Expo 2023, HighLine was launched, with five different configurations.
There is progress on the deployment, with the Multi-Section configuration already delivered as a government aircraft, whilst development work on the Multi-Class concept will require some modification (in particular, the addition of a front passenger entrance to meet US Part 521 requirements).
It’ll be interesting to see how this product line develops.

Looks nice. Hope it works out. Seems an uphill battle given that most ATR routes are constrained to about an hour or so, beyond which the speed, higher altitude ceiling, etc. of jets tend to make turboprops like the ATR uncompetitive.
Could be a niche market out there though.
