Delta to launch a winter service from Orlando to London

24/06/2024 by Kevincm

It seems Delta wants its passengers to enjoy the cold and wet of a winter day, as the airline plans to commence a service between Orlando International and London Heathrow for the winter season.

The route will operate four times weekly between the 26th of October and the 29th of March 2025. It will also be the 8th Delta destination served non-stop to London for the winter season.

Planned operation is as follows

DL22 DEPART MCO 22:35 ARRIVE LHR 11:40+1
DL23 DEPART LHR 16:00 ARRIVE MCO 21:20

Operates between: 26th of October and the 29th of March 2025
Operates: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from Orlando
Booked Equipment: Delta Airbus A330-900neo

Delta will operate an Airbus A330-900neo on this route, featuring a four-class cabin comprising Delta One Suites, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin.

The route will be operated in partnership with Virgin Atlantic, which operates a daily service to Orlando International from Heathrow Airport, as well as Manchester Airport.

Additionally, the new route from Orlando to London Heathrow will bolster Delta’s expanding network between Florida and Europe, with the current winter service from Orlando to Amsterdam and the newly announced service from Tampa to Amsterdam.

Matteo Curcio, Delta’s Senior Vice President for Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India said:

“In partnership with Virgin Atlantic, our new route between Orlando and London seamlessly connects two diverse destinations, offering customers a wealth of experiences on both sides of the Atlantic,”

“Floridians can explore London’s historic landmarks like Buckingham Palace and enjoy world-class dining, while Londoners can escape to the sunny beaches and world-famous attractions of Orlando.”

A busy winter

It’s a busy winter for the Joint Venture that comprises Delta Air Lines, Virgin Atlantic, Air France and KLM – with Virgin and Delta operating up to 187 weekly flights from London Heathrow to 14 destinations in the U.S. this winter, including Miami, Tampa and Orlando in Florida and Delta’s hubs in Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, Minneapolis, New York-JFK, Seattle and Salt Lake City.

Virgin Atlantic will also provide regional lift, with its year-round service from Manchester to Orlando.

For Delta, it is deploying spare capacity where it is needed – and whilst there will be some who enjoy heading to the cold and wet of a British winter, there will be plenty heading back for the sun and warm….
