Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond (29th June)

29/06/2024 by Kevincm

As we exit June and head past the halfway point of the year, I appear to be typing still. Which I’m amazed about in some ways.

However, it is the end of the week, so it must be time for Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond.

A different sort of Tripod. Those of us who are a lot younger will have fears about those three-legged things. As well as weaponised Orchids.

AIX Post Show Coverage

We’re at a point where I’ve had more than a few weeks to translate my notes, voice memos and the expensive Otter.AI subscription is not real publishable content. Welcome to the post-show content, with analysis, thoughts and far too much evening coffee.

  • Retrofitting options for more luggage space – The Airspace Bin L – Dear Airlines. If you’re going to keep older A320s in service and have A320neos, just install these, please.
  • Examining the updates to Delta Flight Product and Air4All Accessible Wheelchair seating product – And why it is so important
  • Exploring the new Airbus A330neo cabin demonstrator – Coming 2026 onwards

Routes and Networks

  • Delta to launch a winter service from Orlando to London – because winter in London is a wonderful experience where it never rains… Maybe.
  • Singapore Airlines to launch a service to Beijing Daxing International Airport – New Expansion into China
  • KLM to add Portland, OR to its network – Swappign for Delta.

Passenger Experience

  • Emirates opens its new lounge at Paris Charles de Gaulle airport – at the old Emirates lounge location at CDG.
  • KLM announces new amenity kits with Marie-Stella-Maris and Envisions – It’s also a bag!

Sustainability in the Air

  • Lufthansa Group to apply an “Environmental Cost Surcharge”  – Anything from €2 to €72 extra to pay for the sustainable fuel. Delightful

Pretty Pictures

  • EasyJet Switzerland Airbus A320 pushing back from Hamburg Airport

Next Week

We’ll have our usual mix of news when I get more than 10 minutes to myself to edit and make it pretty. I’ll also try to get some extra content out on the next few days too – we’re almost catching up with some of the backlog I have.

And that involves a trip report too.

Until then, Happy landings.
