With Emirates expanding the refit work of its existing fleet recently, the first Boeing 777-300ER aircraft will soon be ready for deployment.
Three routes will get the updated aircraft in the first part of the rollout.
They are:
- Geneva (Switzerland) from 11th August (Served by EK 83/84
- Tokyo Haneda (Japan) from 1st September (Served by 312/313)
- Brussels (Belgium) from 1st September (Served by EK 183/184)
The new aircraft will mark the first time that the airline will offer both its Premium Economy product on this aircraft and for the Emirates’ next-generation Business Class seats, set in a new 1-2-1 configuration.
For those of you who are looking for a style, the refurbishment is based on the Airbus A380 refit. The first Boeing 777 went into the maintenance hanger today, (1st July) for its nose-to-tail cabin interior facelift with the whole process taking approximately two weeks before the aircraft goes back into service.
Plans include the refurbishment of the First Class cabin, the installation of 38 new Business Class seats in an updated 1-2-1 seating configuration, in addition to 24 of the latest Premium Economy seats, along with 256 Economy Class seats.

Adnan Kazim, Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, Emirates Airline said:
“With the addition of the newly retrofitted Boeing 777s to our fleet, we’re capturing the opportunity to introduce our highly acclaimed products like Premium Economy to more cities already served by this aircraft type in our network, in addition to more seating variety in four classes.”
He added:
“Borrowing inspiration from our flagship A380 in every cabin, our Boeing 777 with revamped interiors boast the very best in customer comfort and will feature modern design details and signature cabin finishings, with a new Business Class cabin that provides more privacy for our customers, in addition to other thoughtful touches that underscore our exceptional value proposition. Our investment and intense focus on offering the best possible product across every cabin class also ensures we provide a consistent experience on both the Boeing 777s and A380s.”
A long refit programme ahead
With Emirates having an extended wait for its new long-range widebodies (the Boeing 777X family), Emirates has chosen instead to plough money back into the fleet with 81 of its Boeing 777 fleet (out of 122) aircraft being refitted.
For those travelling business class, it will be a big step up as Emirates begins to abandon the 2-3-2 business class seats (which are by no means competitive any more), as everyone is proceeding to staggered or 1-2-1 seating
It’s also a chance to push forward with the offering of Premium Economy on its fleet – with the airline planning to serve 36 cities with the product (which will be helped by the Boeing 777, the Airbus A380 and the Airbus A350).
Those who want to fly on the refreshed Boeing 777 to Geneva, Tokyo Haneda and Brussels can do so, as tickets have gone on sale today and can be booked on emirates.com, the Emirates App or via travel agents.
