While we are still in summer, there are those who will never want the sun to end. Thankfully, for those departing from Dublin, Aer Lingus is adding three new winter sun routes, as well as adding capacity to some destinations.
The Irish carrier will add Marrakesh, Malta, and Seville to its network.
Additionally, the airline is significantly expanding its winter capacity on European routes. The move comes in response to global trends showing a growing desire for autumn and winter sun getaways
The airline is planning to add the following (note, all departures are from Dublin Airport):
- Marrakesh (RAK): 3 times per week, starting 26 Oct, €69.99
- Malta (MLA): 3 times per week, starting 25 Oct, €69.99
- Seville (SVQ): 3 times per week, starting 25 Oct, €49.99
The following destinations will gain frequency but also go year-round
- Faro, Portugal (FAO): Operating four times per week, Faro is now a year-round destination for the first time since 2018.
- Bordeaux (BOD): An additional flight brings the total to five flights per week.
- Lanzarote (ACE): Four additional flights per week, bringing operations to double daily, making it a year-round destination.
- Tenerife (TFS): two additional flights per week, now operating eight flights per week, making it a year-round destination.
Finally, the following routes will see seasonal extensions
- Izmir, Turkey (ADB): Two flights per week until the end of December 2024.
- Alicante, Spain (ALC): Four flights per week through November, restarting in early March 2025.
- Athens, Greece (ATH): Two flights per week through December, restarting in March.
- Dubrovnik, Croatia (DBV): Two flights per week until late November, restarting in early March 2025.
- Nice, France (NCE): Four flights per week until late November, restarting in early March 2025.
- Palma de Mallorca, Spain (PMI): Three flights per week until late November, restarting in early March 2025.
Exploring the winter sun
Whilst trunk business routes are a core part of the Aer Lingus network provide the core services, its welcoming to see that Aer Lingus continues to develop its network, by adding routes, expanding capacity and extending some of its more popular routes as people seek out sunnier climbs to escape bits of an Irish winter.
For those who are looking, these could provide a reasonable value escape if you book far enough in advance. Just remember to look at the luggage regulations before you go.

*sigh* Another Aer Lingus route announcement and still no Tampa.
Disappointing. Orlando has Aer Lingus to Dublin, but parking at Orlando airport is extravagantly expensive and bus service to Orlando is very thin on the ground.
We have service to LGW and LHR, but it’d be so much easier to go to Dublin and connect to a regional airport in England from there, and I might even be able to afford business class.
Ah, well, maybe next announcement…
